77th Republic day was celebrated at RWF Stadium on 26/01/2026. Trilok Kothari, Principal Chief Materials Manager, Rail Wheel Factory, Chief Guest for the day, unfurled the National Flag and addressed the gathering. Speaking on the occasion, Kothari said that the India was fortunate to be guided by visionary leaders such as Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, and others who came together under the umbrella of Constituent Assembly to form world’s longest written Constitution. During his speech he brought out the achievements of individual departments, highlighting the commendable works done by them.
He said that, In the current financial year, During the current financial year, RWF has manufactured 1,66,330 wheels, 96,535 axles, and 94,737 wheelsets. This has ably contributed to maintenance requirements of workshops and the enabled the wagon building industry to turn out wagons. RWF’s turnover till the end of third quarter was Rs.2,260 Crores.
Some of the records surpassed by RWF in 2025-26 highlighted below are:
In July 2025, the Wheel Shop cast 22,083 wheels and produced 20,125 good wheels, the highest ever in RWF history.Further Axle Shop forged 15,270 axles and machined 11,342 axles, marking the highest-ever outturn since inception in the same month.
In December 2025, RWF assembled 12,063 wheelsets, creating a new all-time record.
During the same month, 12,112 wheelsets were dispatched to wagon builders and railway workshops, surpassing all previous records.
Scrap worth ₹28.58 crore was sold up to 31st December 2025, against a proportionate target of ₹25.20 crore.
78,869 MT of scrap was mobilized to ensure uninterrupted supply for wheel manufacturing.
Under the Mission PACE scheme, savings of ₹21.83 crore were achieved up to December 2025.
Expenditure of ₹2,422 crores was incurred on various works, resulting in a turnover of ₹2,260 crore.
Being an energy-intensive unit, RWF has undertaken several proactive measures toward energy conservation like, Installation of IGBT-based 1,650 kVAR Automatic Power Factor Controllers in Wheel and Axle Shops.
Among various welfare activities, construction of additional rooms in housing colonies, face-lifting of Mysore Holiday Home, empanelment of hospitals such as Apollo Hospital Sheshadripuram, Narayana Hrudayalaya, and Sri Shankara Cancer Hospital are note worthy.
Chief Guest, Trilok Kothari, also distributed prizes to the winners of various inter-departmental sports competitions organised by the RWF Employees’ Institute.
Shuja Mahamood, Principal Chief Personnel Officer, along with PHODs and HODs of various departments, senior officers, employees of RWF and their family members took part in the celebrations.
Later, Meetika Swaroop, Vice President, RWF Women’s Welfare Organisation, along with Ms. Diya Deva Kothari, Executive Member, other members of the organisation and officers visited patients at the RWF Railway Hospital and conveyed their best wishes for a speedy recovery.
