Google has started rolling out the January 2026 software update for Pixel devices. The update is now reaching supported Pixel phones and tablets that are running Android 16. As usual, the rollout is happening in phases and may take up to a week, depending on the device model and carrier.
Google shared the details through an official community post on its support forum. Users will get a notification once the update is available on their device. Google is also encouraging Pixel users to keep their phones updated to get the latest security fixes and system improvements.
The January 2026 update is mainly focused on bug fixes. It includes fixes related to audio, battery life, display issues, touch response, and some user interface problems.
One of the audio fixes addresses an issue where some users experienced noisy ringback tones during Webex calls. This problem only happened in certain situations, but it was noticeable for people who use their Pixel phones for work calls.
Battery performance is also part of this update. Google says it has fixed an issue that caused battery drain under specific conditions. While Google has not explained the exact cause, such fixes usually help with background processes or system behavior that affects battery life.
There are several display-related improvements in this update. Google has fixed an Always On Display flickering issue that some users reported. Another fix targets noisy lines flashing on the screen while editing HDR photos in the Adobe Lightroom app. Google has also added general GPU performance improvements, which could help with smoother visuals and better performance in graphics-heavy tasks.
Touchscreen reliability has also been improved. The update fixes a bug where the touchscreen could randomly stop responding in certain situations. This is an important fix, as touch issues can make a phone very frustrating to use.
Google has also fixed a bug related to Live Universe wallpapers. In some cases, deleting this wallpaper caused the Wallpaper and style app to stop working until the phone was restarted. This issue should no longer happen after the update.
The January 2026 update is available for a wide range of Pixel devices, starting from the Pixel 7a up to the Pixel 10 Pro Fold. Different software versions apply to global models and region-specific variants like EMEA, Japan, and Verizon models.
