Avowed is officially making its way to PlayStation 5. Xbox Game Studios and Obsidian Entertainment have confirmed that the action RPG will launch on PS5 on February 17, 2026. The release will arrive alongside a new Anniversary Update that adds several features to the game.

Avowed was first launched in February 2025 for Xbox Series consoles and PC. At the time, it was positioned as a major Xbox-first title. Nearly a year later, PlayStation players will finally get access to the game.

Pre-orders for the PS5 version are already live on the PlayStation Store. Players can choose between two editions. The Standard Edition is priced at $49.99, while the Premium Edition costs $59.99. According to the publisher, these prices will remain the same across all platforms where Avowed is sold.

The Anniversary Update is an important part of this announcement. It is not limited to PS5 players and will also be available on other platforms. The update introduces New Game Plus, which allows players to replay the story while keeping progress. A Photo Mode is also being added, giving players tools to capture moments from the game world.

Other additions include a new weapon type, more character presets, and expanded Godlike feature options. Players will also be able to change their appearance during gameplay, which was not possible at launch. These changes aim to give players more freedom and replay value.

Avowed is a first-person fantasy role-playing game set in the world of Eora. Players take on the role of an envoy sent to investigate a mysterious plague. What begins as a political mission slowly turns personal as the story unfolds. The game focuses on exploration, combat, and player choice, which are core elements of Obsidian’s RPG design.

The PS5 release also reflects a larger change in the gaming industry. Games that were once exclusive to a single console are now reaching other platforms more quickly. For players, this reduces the pressure to buy a specific console just for one game. It also allows developers to reach a wider audience.

However, some details are still missing. While the Premium Edition is confirmed, the publisher has not shared what extra content it includes on PS5. Without that information, it is difficult to judge whether the higher price is worth it.
