Anjel Chakma, a 24-year-old student from Tripura, died 18 days after he was allegedly attacked and stabbed by five men following a heated argument in Dehradun.
MBA student Killed In Dehradun: A shocking and tragic incident has surfaced from Uttarakhand where a 24-year-old student who hailed from Tripura died days after being allegedly stabbed by five miscreants. According to police, the victim was allegedly stabbed by five men after a heated argument. The 24-year-old student succumbed to his injuries after 18 days of the incident. The victim was identified as Anjel Chakma who was pursuing an MBA at a private university in the capital. He was attacked and allegedly stabbed on December 9. As per reports, the accused men hurled racial slurs at the victim and his brother – Michael – before the attack.
Tripura Student Dies After Attack In Dehradun
Michael suffered a head injury and is recovering while his brother Anjel succumbed to his injuries on Friday. Police arrested all the five accused men on December 14 and lodged a case under attempted murder. However, after the victim’s death, cops added murder section under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
The accused identified as – Avinash Negi, Shaurya Rajput, Suraj Khwas, Sumit, and Ayush Badoni. All the accused are in judicial custody.
Who Filed The Complaint?
Victim’s brother Michael filed the complaint on December 10. According to the complaint, both brothers, on the evening of December 9, were going to the nearby market to purchase some items.
“At that time, some unknown persons, who were intoxicated with alcohol, misbehaved with the complainant and his brother and began using casteist and racist abusive words against the complainant. When the complainant and his brother objected to this behaviour, the accused attacked them with a knife and a metal bangle/bracelet (kada),” the complaint reads.
Both Anjel and Michael are from Unakoti district in Tripura.
The Brutal Attack
Following a heated argument, the accused persons attacked Michael on the head with the kada. When Anjel came to save his brother, the assailants allegedly stabbed him multiple times. He was rushed to a hospital in critical condition.
As per the complaint, the accused persons threatened both brothers that they would kill them if they informed the police.
