Infant’s body found near Our Lady Church, Versova; FIR registered | Representational Image

Mumbai: The Versova police have registered an FIR against an unidentified person for allegedly concealing the birth of a child by secretly disposing of the infant’s body. The deceased male infant, wrapped in paper, was found near Our Lady Church on Yari Road, Versova.

On the morning of December 15, around 9.49am, the patrolling police team received information from the control room about the discovery. Upon reaching the location, a man named Mohammad Tahir Mohammad led them to the spot, where they found the infant lying face down. The body, partially eaten by scavenging birds and animals, was wrapped in paper.

The infant’s remains were transported to Cooper Hospital in Vile Parle (West), where doctors confirmed the child was dead. A case has been registered under section 94 (concealment of a child’s birth by secretly disposing of the child’s dead body) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
