Guwahati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a major attack on the Congress during his visit to Assam, where he once again referred to himself as a tea seller. PM Modi accused the Congress of promoting anti-national ideology. He said that people would remember that when his government awarded Bhupen Hazarika the Bharat Ratna, the Congress openly opposed it.
I Am A Tea Seller: PM Modi
Taking a direct aim at the Congress, PM Modi said that their national president had then said that Modi was giving the Bharat Ratna to singers and dancers. PM Modi asked, “Tell me, isn’t this an insult to Bhupen Hazarika? Isn’t this an insult to our culture?” PM Modi said that his government established a semiconductor unit, which the Congress opposed. PM Modi said that this is the same Congress that for so many years did not allow the people associated with tea cultivation (Tea Community) to get land rights. The BJP government gave them land rights and a life of dignity. “I am a tea seller. If I don’t do it, who will?,” said PM Modi.
PM Modi Attacks Congress
PM Modi further said that the Congress party settled illegal immigrants and is now protecting them. That’s why the Congress party is opposing the SIR and the updating of the voter list. This Congress party is still promoting anti-national ideology. They only care about strengthening their vote bank; they don’t care about you. The Congress openly opposed giving the Bharat Ratna to Bhupen Hazarika.
Our Government Is Putting In Its Best Effort: PM Modi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi strongly criticised the Congress party, stating that today, our double-engine government is also addressing the problems created by the Congress. Like in Assam, many fertiliser factories had shut down in other states of the country as well. Earlier, farmers had to stand in long queues for urea. Our government is putting in every effort to improve them.
