In a major setback to Pakistan, India has signed a $100 million Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Afghanistan in pharmaceutical sector.
As per the MoU between Raoufi Global Group and Zydus Lifesciences Limited, India will provide continuous and regular supply of medicines to Afghanistan as per international standards.
Later, Zydus will setup its representative office in Afghanistan and begin local drug production. At the same time, the technical capacity and organisational affairs of pharmaceutical facilities in the country will be strengthened.

This move will help improve healthcare standards in Afghanistan and reduce dependence on substandard imported medicines. The signing ceremony was conducted at the Afghan Consulate in Dubai.
The development comes amid ban on trade by Afghan Taliban with Pakistan, including pharmaceutical business ties with Pakistani suppliers in the following 3 months.
