Lalu Prasad Yadav and his family are the most influential political family in Bihar. Yadav’s wife, Rabri Devi, has also served as the Chief Minister of Bihar in the past. The couple married on June 1, 1973, in an arranged marriage setup. The two have seven daughters and two sons together. The political family represents Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), which performed badly in the Bihar Assembly Election 2025. Lalu Prasad Yadav has nine children with his wife, Rabri Devi. The two eldest daughters are Misa and Rohini; the middle daughters are Chanda, Ragini and Hema; the youngest daughters are Anushka and Raj Lakshmi; and the two sons are Tejashwi Yadav and Tej Prakash Yadav.
1. Tejashwi Yadav
He’s the youngest son, aged 35. He didn’t pursue his formal education after Class 12. Before joining politics, he had an interest in cricket. He has served as the Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar for two terms. In the 2025 Bihar Assembly Election, he was the face for the position of Chief Minister from RJD.
2. Tej Prakash Yadav
Tej Prakash Yadav was born in Gopalganj in 1988 and didn’t continue his studies after Class 12. He entered the political career in 2015, when he won from Mehua. Later, Tej Prakash became the Cabinet Minister for Environment, Forest, and Climate Change for the Bihar government.
He separated from the granddaughter of the former CM in 2018. At this, Tej’s father, Lalu, removed him from the RJD party and the household. Later, he came up with his own party, named Janshakti Janata Dal (JJD).
3. Rohini Acharya
Rohini Acharya, aged 46, lives with her husband in Singapore. The husband’s name is Samaresh Singh, who is a software engineer by profession. Rohini is an MBBS doctor and has recently been in headlines over the family dispute.
After the poor performance of RJD in the Assembly Election, she allegedly accused Tejashwi Yadav. According to the post shared by Rohini, she was later humiliated by Tejashwi Yadav and his friends in the meeting and was told, “We are cursed because of you,” by Tejashwi.
4. Misa Bharti
Misa Bharti is the eldest child and daughter of Lalu Yadav and Rabri Devi. She was born in the year 1976. What’s special about her name is that it’s inspired by the Maintenance of Internal Security Act, making her name MISA. She has also completed her MBBS degree. Later, she shifted to politics.
5. Chanda Singh
She’s a law-degree holder and is married to a pilot. Chanda has not got involved in politics, like other family members.
6. Ragini Yadav
Ragini Yadav started her engineering degree at BITS-Ranchi. However, she stepped back before the completion. Ragini also has kept herself away from politics like Chanda and has a son with Rahul Yadav.
7. Hema Yadav
Hema Yadav has an engineering background. She too remains uninvolved in politics like Chanda and Ragini, to focus on her family life.
8. Anushka Rao
Anushka has completed interior designing, and her husband’s name is Chiranjeev Rao. Rao is the Member of the Legislative Assembly.
9. Raj Lakshmi
The youngest child of the Yadav family is Raj Lakshmi. She has completed her engineering degree.
