New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said that the deep depression over the Bay of Bengal intensified into a “severe cyclonic storm.” The Andhra government has put coastal districts on high alert, deploying NDRF and SDRF teams. Odisha is bracing for heavy rain, with over 3,000 people evacuated, including pregnant women, while northern Tamil Nadu, including Chennai, is expected to receive heavy rainfall under orange and yellow alerts. The IMD on Tuesday predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in several parts of Jharkhand till October 31 due to the influence of a cyclone brewing over the Bay of Bengal.
