Bihar Assembly Election 2025
More than 1,250 candidates filed their papers for the 121 seats as the filing of nomination papers for the first phase of Assembly polls concluded on Friday, according to the Election Commission.
The BJP is part of the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) with Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal-United (JDU). Earlier this month, the ruling alliance announced its seat sharing arrangement for Bihar polls, under which BJP and JDU will contest on 101 seats each, the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) on 29 seats, while the Rashtriya Lok Morcha and Hindustani Awam Morcha on 6-6 seats each.
Notably, the opposition Mahagathbandhan, comprising the RJD and Congress, was unable to announce a seat-sharing pact for the first phase of the Bihar polls, as the nomination process concluded on Friday, and will be engaging in a “friendly fight” in the upcoming polls in some seats.
Bihar Assembly Election will be held in two phases on November 6 and November 11, with the counting of votes to follow on November 14.
