Bihar Assembly Election: In a significant development ahead of the Bihar Assembly Elections, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has dialed RJD leader Lalu Yadav to resolve seat-sharing deadlock in the INDIA bloc. Various media reports have covered that the seat-sharing talks between Congress and RJD for the upcoming Bihar assembly elections remain stalled, prompting Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge to speak directly with Lalu Prasad Yadav to break the deadlock.

INDIA Bloc seat-sharing deadlock

With nominations for the first phase of the voting underway, the lack of agreement between the INDIA block parties has raised doubts over Opposition unity against the Nitish Kumar and PM Modi led NDA alliance. Reports also say that the dispute mainly concerns the number of seats for Congress and control over traditional strongholds. RJD initially offered 52 seats, which Congress rejected, demanding 60.

Lalu Yadav stops RJD ticket distribution after Tejashwi Yadav’s intervention

In a shocking development from Bihar, RJD president Lalu Prasad gave away party tickets to several candidates until his son and heir apparent Tejashwi Yadav pointed out that the INDIA bloc, helmed in Bihar by the Rashtriya Janata Dal, was yet to formally announce a seat-sharing formula.

Why Tejashwi Yadav stopped ticket distribution?

As per a report by IANS news agency, a stampede-like situation was witnessed outside 10, Circular Road, the bungalow allotted to the RJD supremo’s wife Rabri Devi, a former CM, when the couple returned from Delhi, where they had appeared before a court.

As the air remained thick with anticipation, aspirants, who apparently received phone calls from the party, began pouring in, only to emerge minutes later, with the party symbol in their hands and a broad smile on their faces. However, Tejashwi Yadav, who returned from Delhi a few hours after his parents did, was said to have been upset with the development.
