2 men accidentally left a pot of chickpeas (Chhole) on the stove to cook overnight for their food stall on Friday night, leading to their death.
Noida: In a tragic incident coming from Uttar Pradesh, two young men from Noida allegedly died due to suffocation on Saturday. The smoke and toxic fumes from the pot of chickpeas on a burning stove is said to be the reason behind suffocation. Scroll down to know all the details.
“Since the door of the house was shut, it led to a shortage of oxygen in the room. This combined with the smoke from the burning food resulted in a large amount of carbon monoxide in the house,” Assistant Commissioner of Police Rajiv Gupta, Noida Central Zone told the news outlet.
For those unversed, Carbon monoxide is a poisonous gas that is odourless and it can be emitted while burning fuel in stoves, ovens, cars or trucks and generators and can lead to death.
Reason behind death
As per the initial report, the two men accidentally left a pot of chickpeas (Chhole) on the stove to cook overnight for their food stall on Friday night. Sadly, they went to bed without turning off the burner and this mistake has reportedly become the reason of their death.
Early investigations suggest that leaving cooking unattended can create hazardous situations, underscoring the need for constant vigilance when using kitchen appliances. Local officials are calling on food stall owners to embrace safer cooking practices to avoid incidents like this in the future.
