Will Balendra Shah become the next PM / Interim PM of Nepal?

Nepal’s political spotlight has shifted to Kathmandu’s young mayor, Balendra Shah, after Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli resigned in the wake of the deadly student-led “GenZ protests.”
Known widely as Balen, the 35-year-old rapper-turned-politician has emerged as a grassroots favorite, with online campaigns portraying him as the Himalayan nation’s next potential leader. Shah has served as Kathmandu’s 15th mayor since May 2022, creating history as the first independent candidate—without party backing—to win the post.

An engineer by training, Shah earned his civil engineering degree in Nepal before moving to India for a master’s in structural engineering at Visvesvaraya Technological University in Karnataka. Long before politics, he made a name in Nepal’s underground hip-hop circuit, where his music railed against corruption, injustice, and inequality—themes that continue to define his political stance on Wednesday.

Sources suggest that Nepal Army forced KP Oli to resign

Nepal’s political crisis has entered a new phase with sources indicating that the Nepal Army intervened directly in the standoff. According to insiders, senior military leadership advised former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to step down, offering him a safe and face-saving exit amid mounting protests across the country. The Army is now said to have formally assumed charge of the political transition process, positioning itself as the guarantor of stability after weeks of unrest. While Oli’s resignation marks the end of a turbulent chapter, the military’s takeover signals the beginning of an uncertain phase in Nepal’s democratic journey, as calls grow both for political reform and for assurances that civilian governance will be restored.

Preparation for Simhastha 2028 in Full Swing in Ujjain, MP: IAS Raushan Kumar Singh

IAS Raushan Kumar Singh, a 2015-batch officer of the Madhya Pradesh cadre, is currently serving as Collector of Ujjain. He is spearheading preparations for Simhastha 2028, one of the world’s largest religious gatherings. Home to the sacred Mahakal Temple and the holy Shipra River, Ujjain holds immense historical and spiritual importance. It is also the hometown of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav. “We have already begun preparations for Simhastha 2028, which is expected to draw nearly 30 crore pilgrims,” Singh said. The administration’s plans include developing large-scale accommodation facilities, building new roads and parking zones, upgrading ghats, and ensuring safe drinking water, sanitation, and other essential infrastructure. Connectivity is a key focus, with a proposed greenfield four-lane road linking Indore Airport directly to Ujjain to ease travel for pilgrims. Even outside Simhastha, the Mahakal Temple attracts 2–3 lakh devotees daily during peak seasons. “In months like Sawan, the footfall rises sharply,” Singh explained. To manage the surge, the district administration is prioritizing crowd management, improving darshan facilities, and strengthening support systems to provide a seamless experience. For Madhya Pradesh, Simhastha 2028 is more than an event—it is a dream project, a grand celebration of faith and culture. The preparations are not just a responsibility of the administration but a matter of national pride, with the entire country watching Ujjain’s journey towards hosting this spiritual spectacle.
