Delhi-NCR weather update: Several parts of Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) were severely affected during the heavy rains on Friday morning. Although the rain brought relief from the humid environment, it caused water logging and traffic congestion problems in several regions. At Delhi airport, around 170 flights were delayed due to the harsh weather conditions. Indigo has issued a travel advisory, too.

What’s the Delhi IMD update saying?

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Noida and Ghaziabad, an orange alert in regions of West Uttar Pradesh and Delhi. It implies that heavy rainfall is expected in these regions.

Areas like South East Delhi, Central Delhi, Shahdara, and East Delhi have been on yellow alert. Alongside, the department shared a satellite animation of the last 6 hours weather showing moderate to intense cloud formation over West Uttar Pradesh and Delhi.

Which regions are affected?

The continuous heavy rains in Delhi-NCR have caused unrest in several regions like the DND Flyway, Mathura Road, Pragati Maidan, Defence Colony, Preet Vihar, Vikas Marg, ISBT, Geeta Colony, and Rajaram Kohli Marg. All these regions witnessed heavy traffic jams, with vehicles barely moving.

Around 170 flights were affected during the time, with an average delay of over 25 minutes. The metro operations for some stations on the yellow line were also hit during the peak office hours.
