New Delhi: Ganesh Chaturthi is one of the major festivals in India which is celebrated with tremendous zeal and enthusiasm. Lord Ganesha is revered as the remover of obstacles and the god of wisdom, prosperity and good fortune. The festival is an opportunity to seek his blessings and guidance. On this auspicious day, people often mark new beginnings by starting new businesses, moving into a new home, beginning a new venture. Though Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated across the country, it is the grandest festival in Maharashtra.
Ganesh Chaturthi is a 10-day festival that continues until Ananta Chaturdashi. This festival is also known as Vinayak Chaturthi or Vinayak Chavithi. During these 10 days, the homes and pandals are adorned with elaborate decorations, and the air is filled with prayers, music, and festive chants. The streets come alive with vibrant processions and traditional rituals as people prepare delicious offerings and visit the beautifully decorated pandals.
Owing to the heavy rush on the streets during these 10 days, the Mumbai police has issued traffic advisory. Several routes have been diverted, the officials announced. Commuters in Mumbai are advised to plan their journey accordingly.
Here are some of the key details:
- The Dr. B.A. Road from Hindmata to Byculla has been closed for the BEST (Brihanmumbai Electricity and Supply Transport) buses.
- Bus routes C1, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 19E are also being diverted.
- After the temporary changes, the buses will now pass through Hindmata, Parel T.T., Acharya Donde Marg, Parel Village, G. D. Ambekar Marg, Kalachowki, Bai Nath Pai Marg, Ghodapdev, and E. S. Patanwala Marg in the direction of Byculla.
- Bus routes 66 and 30 (down direction): After Shinde Wadi, these buses will take a detour. From Parel T.T., they will turn right, go straight, and then turn left onto Jagannath Bhatnakar Road.
- After Sant Rohidas Chowk, they will continue on Sane Guruji Road before returning to their usual route at Byculla.
- Bus routes 14 and 57 (down direction): These buses will travel from Khanolkar Chowk, then go through Acharya Donde Marg, Jagannath Bhatankar Marg, and onto Sane Guruji Marg.
- Bus routes 9, A134 and 69: These buses will go from Dr B. A. Road via Ranibagh, Hansraj Rathod Chowk, T. B. Kadam Marg, Tanaji Malusare Chowk, Kalachowki, G. D. Ambekar Road, Parel Village, and then continue on Acharya Donde Road.
