Mumbai: A 76-year-old woman, Bharti Narayan Gandhi, allegedly ended her life by jumping from the seventh floor of her residential building in Dadar (East) on January 2.
According to police, the incident occurred at Mohan Naik Society on GD Ambedkar Road in Morachi Wadi around 2.30pm. Bhoiwada police received a call about the incident and rushed to the scene. The woman was immediately taken to KEM Hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival.
Gandhi, a resident of Mohan Naik Society for more than two decades, had been suffering from hypertension and diabetes. Since the passing of her husband on September 7, 2024, she had been under severe mental stress, officials said.
Family members have stated that they do not suspect any foul play in her death and have no complaints regarding the incident. Further investigations are underway.
