Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The period of storm and rain will continue in Madhya Pradesh for the 20th consecutive day on Tuesday. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert of strong storm and rain in 40 districts including Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior.
Earlier on Monday, it rained in more than 20 districts. Indore and neighbouring Mhow and Barwani, witnessed strong winds.
According to the Meteorological Department, there is activity of seven systems in the state. A trough is passing through the middle of the state. Due to this, the period of storm and rain has started.
Although, a heat wave alert was issued earlier in Gwalior-Chambal, but due to the activity of the system, there is a possibility of rain for the next 4 days.
The districts for which the weather department has issued an alert for Tuesday include Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Gwalior, Morena, Bhind, Datia, Niwari, Tikamgarh, Chhatarpur, Rewa, Sidhi, Singrauli, Panna, Damoh, Mandla, Balaghat, Seoni, Pandhurna, Chhindwara, Narsinghpur, Sagar, Vidisha, Raisen, Narmadapuram, Betul, Harda, Sehore, Shajapur, Dewas, Khandwa, Burhanpur, Khargone, Barwani, Dhar, Alirajpur, Jhabua, Ratlam, Mandsaur and Neemuch.
Here, storms can blow with a speed of 30 to 50 kilometers per hour. At some places it will be heavy and at some places it will be light rain.
Strong winds blow away tents
Before this, the storm and rain continued on Monday as well. The speed of the storm in Indore’s Mhow was so fast that the tin roofs of the houses flew away.
Bhopal received heavy rains along with storm. Water fell in Dewas, Damoh, Guna, Sagar, Chhindwara, Raisen, Barwani, Mauganj, Ratlam and Bina as well. One and a quarter inch of water fell in Sidhi. Half inch of rain fell in Shivpuri.
The state witnessed intense heat, storm and rain on Monday. The mercury reached a record high of 46 degrees Celsius in Khajuraho of Chhatarpur district. This is the first time in the season that the mercury has reached this high. Meanwhile, it was 44.7 degrees in Naugaon, 44.6 degrees in Tikamgarh and 44 degrees in Shivpuri.
