Raipur: In a tragic incident, at least seven workers were burnt alive while others sustained injuries after a powerful explosion ripped through a coal furnace on Thursday at a steel plant in Chhattisgarh. The incident took place at the Bakulahi-based Real Ispat Steel Plant in Baloda Bazar district. The workers were caught in the heat and burning coal. According to sources, workers suffered critical burn injuries after coming in direct contact of furious flames after the massive explosion. Injured were rushed to nearby hospitals.
The exact number of injured workers is yet to be confirmed by the authorities.

However, the steel plant management has not issued any statement regarding the explosion.
Police rushed to the scene after getting the distress call and initiated an investigation.
Authorities have started reviewing the safety protocols at the plant and the exact cause of the furnace blast.
3 Burnt Alive As Private Bus Collides With Lorry In Andhra Pradesh
On Wednesday night, a tragic incident has surfaced from Andhra Pradesh, where at least three people were charred to death after a private bus collided with an oncoming lorry on Thursday. The incident took place near Sirivellametta in Nandyal district. According to police, the bus driver, the lorry driver, and the cleaner were burnt alive in the mishap. Seeing the bus on fire, a local DCM driver came for rescue, breaking the bus windows and rescuing as many as 36 passengers.
Four people sustained critical injuries and were shifted to the hospital, while eight others suffered minor injuries. Andhra Pradesh’s Roads and Buildings Minister BC Janardhan Reddy took stock of the tragic incident and asked concerned officials to provide best possible treatment to the injured.
The mishap caused major traffic disruption on the road for several hours, affecting the traffic movement. Teams of fire services and police worked continuously to douse the flames and remove the bus from the road. After hours of efforts, the fire officials were able to extinguish the fire.
The bus driver, truck driver and the cleaner were burned alive. Their bodies were later shifted to a government hospital for the autopsy process. All the passenger of the bus survived, however, some sustained injuries.
A team of police rushed to the spot after receiving a distress call. A thorough probe has been launched to ascertain the cause of the tragic incident.
According to preliminary investigation, the tyre burst caused the loss of control, leading to the fatal accident.
In a similar tragedy, last year in October, a bus caught fire, killing 20 passengers. The incident took place in neighbouring Kurnool district.
