Balaghat (Madhya Pradesh): Minister of Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), Sampatiya Uikey, has said the government cancelled the contracts of 63 contractors for showing negligence in the Nal Jal project.

If there are any such contractors in Balaghat, the government will act against them, she said. She made the statement during an inspection of the Nal Jal Yojna in Balaghat on Thursday.  

She said that all the work under the project should end by May 15. All the officers of the department assured the minister that they would complete the work for 13,149 connections within the time limit.

She took feedback on the progress of the Bhatera and Devsarra water projects.

Executive engineer of PHE, BK Uikey, said the heavy machines for water supply could not reach Lanji and Hodaljhola because of narrow space.

Uikey said if the department was unable to take the machines, they should lift water and supply it to the villages.

She directed the officials to prepare a report about the water supply to 19 villages before the cabinet meeting.

The minister said that the government had prepared a plan to supply water to one lakh citizens.
