A 35-year-old man was allegedly killed by three co-workers over a petty issue in Kalyan Taluka on Saturday night. The accused are still at large, police said.

The deceased has been identified as Sagar Gothade, a 35-year-old resident of Nashik and a laborer working at the Samruddhi Mahamarg construction site in Kalyan Taluka. The police have identified the suspects as Vishal Pawar, Badri, and Vishal Mamu, all residents of Malegaon, who are currently absconding.

According to the police, all four men worked at the construction site and lived together in a rented accommodation in Chinchavli village, Kalyan Taluka. Investigators suspect that the confrontation arose under the influence of alcohol on Saturday night. During the altercation, the three accused allegedly attacked Sagar with sharp weapons, striking his head multiple times. As a result, Sagar collapsed and was found lying in a pool of blood, unconscious. Fearing the consequences, the trio fled the scene without informing anyone. The landlord of the rented room later alerted the police.

Suresh Kadam, police inspector of Kalyan Taluka police station, said, “We rushed to the spot and took him to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival. A murder case has been registered against the accused under the relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. We have formed two teams to apprehend them and hope to nab them soon. Further investigation is ongoing.”
