Five people were killed and several injured in a gas cylinder explosion near Bukka Street in Andhra Pradesh’s Visakhapatnam on Thursday.
The blast reportedly took place at a scrap shop, where a welding cylinder malfunctioned.
The impact of the explosion was so powerful that the victims’ bodies were scattered and left beyond recognition.
After the incident, teams of fire brigade officials and police promptly arrived at the scene.
City Police Commissioner Shankhabrata Bagchi visited King George Hospital (KGH) in Visakhapatnam to see the wounded victims, where he met with Superintendent Dr. Vani and additional healthcare personnel.
The Commissioner called upon them to implement thorough steps to guarantee optimal treatment for those who were hurt. The local population remains stunned whilst authorities continue to examine the factors that led to the blast.
BJP leader Vishnu Vardhan Reddy has reacted to the tragic incident. In a post, Reddy expressed grief over the deaths of five people. “Deeply saddened by the tragic gas explosion in Visakhapatnam that claimed 5 innocent lives. Urging the Andhra Pradesh Government and Hon’ble CM Chandrababu Naidu garu to extend all necessary support to the victims’ families,” he wrote.
