Bhind (Madhya Pradesh): Five people lost their lives, and 13 others were injured when a speeding truck ran over a family in Bhind on Tuesday.

The family had come to attend a wedding at a relative’s house. After the accident, angry relatives blocked the road in protest.

According to information, the incident took place in Jawaharpura, under the Dehat police station area.

Girish Narayan, an employee at Bhind Collectorate, had come with his family to his sister’s house for a wedding ceremony.

On Tuesday morning, some family members were preparing to return to their home in Bhavani Pura, Bhind.

As some members were boarding a loading vehicle and three others stood nearby with a bike, a speeding truck suddenly crashed into them. Three people died on the spot, while several others were severely injured.

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav expressed profound grief on his X handle and said the news of the untimely death of many people in a horrific road accident on the National Highway near Jawaharpura village under Bhind district is unfortunate.

He has announced financial assistance of ₹4 lakhs each from the Chief Minister’s Voluntary Grant to the families of deceased, ₹ 1 lakh each to the seriously injured and ₹50 thousand each to the general injured.

According to the Bhind Collector, the injured were rushed to Bhind District Hospital in a 108 ambulance, where two more people were declared dead.

The joyous wedding event turned into a heartbreaking tragedy.

Following the accident, grieving family members and relatives blocked the road in protest.

Police from the Dehat police station arrived at the scene with additional personnel and are trying to control the situation.
