Palghar, Maharashtra: A horrifying incident of brutal assault on a 43-year-old woman has come to light following the circulation of a disturbing viral video. The woman was not only subjected to inhumane beatings but was also inflicted with burns from a hot iron, had her hair forcibly cut, and suffered wounds on her face from a sharp weapon. Shockingly, the entire ordeal was filmed and subsequently made viral on social media platforms.
The victim resides with her husband and six children in the Charkop area of Kandivali. The accused, identified as Aslam Maniyar, who is the woman’s brother-in-law (her husband’s sister’s husband), had borrowed Rs 21 lakh from the victim and her husband.
Given their familial ties, the couple had provided Rs 13 lakh in cash and Rs 8 lakh through cheques to Maniyar. However, when the victim and her husband sought the return of their money, Maniyar allegedly began avoiding repayment, sparking disagreements between them.
Reportedly, on April 5, Aslam lured the victim to his Vasai home under the guise of repaying the loan. Due to her husband’s illness, the victim made the trip alone. Upon arrival, she was allegedly subjected to a brutal assault by Aslam and his wife, Shaheen Maniyar.
Sources indicate that Shaheen dragged the victim from the bedroom to the living room before forcibly cutting her hair and inflicting burns on her hands and private areas with a hot iron. Adding to the horror, Aslam, allegedly used a blade-like weapon to inflict cuts on her face, leaving her bloodied and injured.
Throughout the brutal attack, the entire scene was recorded on a mobile phone. The victim was also threatened that the video would be made viral on social media if she reported the incident to anyone. After receiving initial medical treatment, the victim returned home and told her husband and children that she had sustained injuries in an accident.
However, days later, the accused circulated the video of the assault among relatives via WhatsApp, leading to it becoming viral. The victim’s husband saw the disturbing footage, and the truth was revealed.
The woman then recounted the horrific ordeal to her husband, after which they filed a complaint at the Charkop Police Station. As the incident occurred within the jurisdiction of the Waliv Police Station in Vasai, the case has been transferred there for further investigation.
“This is a zero FIR case transferred from Charkop to Waliv Police Station. We have registered a case under various relevant sections of the law. The couple who assaulted the woman are currently absconding, and we are actively searching for them,” stated Police Inspector Gorakhnath Zaid of Waliv Police Station.
