Four booked for forging documents to seize late husband’s property in Thane’s Naupada | Representative Image

Thane: The Naupada Police booked four people, including a woman, for allegedly committing a forgery and cheating with a woman to grab her husband property.

The accused have been identified as Abdul Mabood Khan, Firoja Abdul Mabood Khan, Adil Khan, and Umer Shaikh. A case was lodged by Shahaz Abdul Maroof Khan under sections 420, 465, 467, 468, 471, and 34 of the Indian Penal Code on September 7, 2024.

As per the FIR, the complainant’s husband was murdered by an unidentified person in 1996. The property documents were handed over to the husband’s brother, Abdul Mabood Khan. However, the property was being taken care of by Abdul Mabood and his wife, Firoja.

On July 7, 2025, the complainant received a summons from the court regarding a civil case filed by a third person. She alerted her daughter about it. Thereafter, she learned about a forged death certificate. Following this, she sought to get details about it.

Subsequently, she discovered that a forged power of attorney had been created by them, and they intended to grab the property of the complainant’s husband in Dawala, Kausa, Karjat, Shelu, and other places.

The police are investigating the matter. They are going through the property documents. Sharad Kumbhar, police inspector from Naupada Police Station, said, “So far, no arrests have been made yet.”
