The Russian President, Vladimir Putin, on Friday thanked the President of India, Droupadi Murmu and the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, for the warm welcome. He was received by PM Modi at Palam Airport on Thursday evening. The two leaders shared hugs and laughs before departing from the airport in a car. President Putin had dinner with PM Modi at his residence after landing. Vladimir Putin was in India on his two-day visit for the India-Russia Annual Summit 2025.

Signed MoU between India and Russia

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between PM Modi and President Vladimir Putin on Friday. It was signed for cooperation in the sector of port and shipping. PM Modi also announced that India will issue e-visas for the tourists belonging to Russia, and the visa process will take 30 days to complete.

The PM said, ‘I am happy that we will soon be launching e-tourist visa and group tourist visa services for Russian citizens. The process will be completed within 30 days, and it will be free of charge.”

What did the Russian president say?

The President of Russia said, “PM Modi and I have established a close working dialogue. We met during the SCO Summit, and we are personally overseeing the Russia–India dialogue.” He added, “Last year, our bilateral trade turnover grew by 12 per cent, setting a new record. We are currently forecasting that this year’s trade agreement will remain at the same impressive level.”

What did PM Modi say?

Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the press conference mentioned Putin and said, “Your excellency, I have full faith that in the coming future, our friendship will enable us to face global challenges, and it is this belief that will further strengthen and enrich our shared future.” He also stated, “Whether it is the terror attack in Pahalgam or the cowardly attack on Crocus City Hall, all such acts have the same roots. India believes that terrorism is a direct assault on the values of humanity, and global unity against it is our greatest strength.”
