New Delhi: In a major breakthrough, three terrorists of Pak-sponsored Khalistan Zindabad Force (KZF) accused of lobbing a grenade at a police post in Punjab’s Gurdaspur have been gunned down in an encounter with police in Uttar Pradesh’s Pilibhit. According to the Punjab police, the terror module is involved in grenade attacks at police establishments in border areas of Punjab.
The encounter has taken place in the jurisdiction of PS Puranpur, Pilibhit, between the joint police teams of Pilibhit and Punjab and the three module members are involved in the grenade attack on a police post in Gurdaspur.
The injured persons have been taken to CHC Puranpur for urgent medical treatment. Investigations are in progress to unveil the entire terror module.
SP Pilibhit Leads the Operation
DGP Prashant Kumar, in a conversation with News18, revealed that Punjab Police provided input suggesting that the suspects involved in the grand attack on the police outpost in Gurdaspur might be hiding in the Terai region of Uttar Pradesh’s Pilibhit district. Acting on this input, the district police launched an operation. Late Sunday night, during a live encounter involving teams from UP Police and Punjab Police, all three terrorists were injured in the crossfire. They were rushed to the hospital, where doctors declared them dead. The DGP added that the operation was personally led by the Superintendent of Police, Pilibhit.
