Thane: 29-Year-Old Arrested for Raping Minor Cancer Patient in Badlapur; Pregnancy Discovered During Treatment | Representational Image

Thane: The Badlapur Police arrested a 29-year-old man for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl with cancer in Badlapur on March 2. The accused has been identified as Suraj Singh, who originally hails from Bihar. The victim was undergoing chemotherapy at a hospital in Mumbai.

The police said that the victim’s father was died earlier while her mother took her to Mumbai for brain cancer treatment. The victim’s mother and the accused knew each other because they belong to same village in Bihar. The accused helped the victim’s mother get stay them his room in the Badlapur locality.

The police stated that the accused entered the bedroom and allegedly raped her while no one was at home. The incident occurred place for the last one and a half months. Following this act, the victim became pregnant.

The pregnancy incident came to light when she received chemotherapy and her report was examined. The doctor informed the police, and later an FIR was registered. After filing the FIR, the accused fled from the scene.

Kiran Balwadkar, Senior Police Inspector from Baldapur East Police Station said, “We have formed a team of police personnel and launched a manhunt for him. He was apprehended in Bihar on April 2 based on a tip-off and with the help of technical intelligence. The accused was produced in court and remanded into police custody for further investigation. During the investigation, it was learned that the accused got married last November. He worked at an RMC plant in Badlapur.”
