Covid-19: Kerala and Maharashtra account for 60 percent of active cases in the country.
Covid-19: The number of active cases of Covid-19 has surged to 3,207 in India on Saturday, with Kerala reporting the highest number of cases at 1,147. Maharashtra is the second state in terms of active cases. On Friday, 84 new cases were reported in the state, and now the state has as many as 681 patients. Notably, both states account for 60 percent of active cases in the country. The number of people who lost their lives due to the deadly virus has reached 20. Notably, Maharashtra has reported the highest number of deaths at 6. Meanwhile, a 63-year-old man died in Mysore on Friday. Notably, this is the third death due to corona in the state.
Apart from this, a total of 13 patients have died in Maharashtra, Kerala, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. The health department also confirmed one death each in Delhi, Gujarat, Punjab and Tamil Nadu on May 31.
First Case Of Covid Found In Mizoram
Mizoram reported first case of Covid-19 after 7 months, health department officials said. Two people tested positive of the virus. The last case of the virus in the state was reported in October last year, during which 73 people were infected with the Covid-19 in the state.
A heath official said that patients are being treated at Zoram Medical College and Hospital (ZMCH) in Phalkon near Aizawl. The Integrated Disease Surveillance Program (IDSP) of the health department has urged people not to panic.
Over 9000 Covid Tests Done In Maharashtra
Maharashtra reported 84 new COVID-19 cases on Friday. Since January 2025, Mumbai has recorded 681 cases, and the state has conducted 9,592 COVID-19 tests.

20 People Have Died In 10 States
As many as 20 people have died due to the virus in 20 states. most of the deaths were reported in Maharashtra and Karnataka. Maharashtra (6), Karnataka (3), Kerala (2), UP (2), Rajasthan (2), Delhi (1), Gujarat (1), Tamil Nadu (1), MP (1), Punjab (1).
4 New Variants Of Covid-19 Found In India
India has identified four new COVID-19 variants (LF.7, XFG, JN.1, and NB.1.8.1) amid a recent increase in cases across the states. While these variants, sequenced from samples in South and West India, are being monitored, the ICMR assures the public that current cases are not severe. Further testing is underway to detect any additional variants. Authorities advise caution, but stress there is no cause for widespread alarm.
