Mumbai: Malvani Police have registered a case against a 28-year-old man, Jitesh Gade, in connection with the suicide of a 22-year-old woman from Malad. Investigations revealed that the woman was in a four-year relationship with Jitesh, who deceived her by marrying another woman in January. Devastated by the betrayal, she took her own life by hanging herself at her grandmother’s house on February 10.
Details On The Case
The incident occurred around 9 pm in the Marve Road area of Malvani. The deceased lived with her mother and brother and had been working as an invitation designer for three years. Although she had been in a relationship with Jitesh, she never disclosed it to her family. Recently, her mother learned about it through acquaintances but chose not to confront her.
According to reports quoting police, Jitesh got married on January 26, 2025, in his native village. When the victim found out, she was heartbroken. On the night of February 9, around 1:30 am, she returned home with minor facial injuries. When her mother inquired, she claimed she had fallen. The next morning, she left for work but did not return.
Woman Found Hanging At Grandmother’s House
As the day passed, her mother and brother tried calling her multiple times, but she did not respond. Later that night, her brother, while out on a walk, learned that she had been found hanging at her grandmother’s house, Lokmat Times reported.
She was rushed to Shatabdi Hospital, where doctors declared her dead on arrival. Investigations confirmed that Jitesh had promised to marry her but later married someone else. Unable to handle the betrayal, she took the extreme step.
Following a complaint from the victim’s mother, Malvani Police have booked Jitesh Gade under charges of abetment to suicide. Further investigation is underway and Jitesh is expected to be questioned soon.
