Poonch: Two terrorists were gunned down in an encounter that broke out in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch on Wednesday morning. The development came two days after the three terrorists involved in the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack were neutralised.
According to reports, the security forces received an intelligence input about the terrorists trying to enter the Indian territory. Acting on the information, the Indian army, along with the Jammu and Kashmir Police, launched Operation Shivshakti to neutralise the terrorists.
The Indian Army’s White Knight Corps also confirmed the news about the terrorists being shot dead in Poonch. “#OPERATION SHIVSHAKTI In a successful anti-infiltration operation, alert troops of the #IndianArmy eliminated two terrorists attempting to infiltrate across the Line of Control. Swift action and accurate firepower thwarted the nefarious designs. Three weapons have been recovered,” the White Knight Corps said.
“Synergistic and synchronised intelligence inputs from own intelligence units and #JKP led to a successful operation,” it added.
A combing operation is currently underway in the area.
