Mira-Bhayandar: The Kashimira police have arrested a 19-year-old construction worker on charges of brutally murdering his 27-year-old colleague.

According to the police, the incident was reported from an under construction site in Mira Village adjacent to the national highway on Thursday afternoon. The deceased has been identified as-Pravin Hiraman Lokhande, a resident of Malad.

Although the exact reason behind the crime is yet to be ascertained, Lokhande suspected that the accused-Deepak Nandhe was trying to flirt with his wife which often led to quarrels between them, sources said.

A similar quarrel on the subject took a violent turn during lunch time at around 2 pm on Thursday when Nandhe mounted an attack on Lokhande with a plough. Londhe who suffered deep wounds on his head and other body partd was rushed to a nearby hospital in a profusely bleeding state where he was declared dead on arrival.

“We have arrested Nandhe and registered an offence against him under section 103 of the Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita for murder.” confirmed senior police inspector-Rajendra Kamble.
