Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Former constable of the Transport Department Saurabh Sharma, who has been in news for the past one week, has finally returned.
Sharma has cornered the media headlines since the raids by the Special Police Establishment (SPE) of Lokayukta on his residential premises on December 19.
After 52-kg gold and Rs 11 crore were found in a car belonging to an acquaintance of Sharma, ED and I-T entered the scene. Sharma is considered the kingpin of extortions at check posts of the department.
Sharma’s return may blow the lid off many secrets. He may reveal corruption cases of many people associated with the department. It was Sharma through whom extortions were done from the check posts for a long time.
The state government abolished check-post system in June last year and started check points.
Since the raids on Sharma’s residential premises the opposition has been targeting the government.
Extortion of money from the check posts as well as its distribution was done through Sharma for a long time. Now, everything depends on his statement.
Threat to life:
Lawyer Saurabh Sharma’s mother Uma Sharma and his colleagues’s lawyer, said that there was a threat to his client’s life. It was also said that the amount and gold found during the raids belonged to officers and politicians. Sharma’s return may reveal who is the real owner of the money.
