Maha Kumbh Mela: The Maha Kumbh Mela is considered as one of the most significant cultural and religious gatherings in India and the world. It always takes place in Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh. This year, the Maha Kumbh Mela will commence on January 13, 2025, on Paush Purnima. This grand event will take place at the Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, where the Ganga, Yamuna, and the Saraswati rivers converge. 

Organized every 12 years, the Maha Kumbh holds immense spiritual relevance for Hindus. Bathing in the sacred waters during the Kumbh is believed to cleanse one’s sins and grant ultimate salvation. The event lasts for 30 to 45 days, and is expected to draw millions of devotees from across the globe.

When is the next Kumbh Mela?

Following the Maha Kunbh in Prayagraj, the next Kumbh Mela will be the Simhastha Mahaparv that will take place in Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh, from March 27, 2028 to May 27, 2028. It occurs when Jupiter is in Leo and the Sun is in Aries. The Simhastha Kumbh will feature three royal baths (Shahi Snan) and seven festive baths, planned between April 9 and May 8. This event is expected to attract approximately 14 crore devotees. The last Simhastha Mahakumbh in Ujjain was held in 2016.
