Denzel Washington apologized to Black Panther 3 director for spilling Marvel secret

Denzel Washington made waves in November when he revealed that he plans to appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe before he retires. While promoting Gladiator II on Australia’s Today show, the two-time Oscar winner surprised everyone by announcing, “[Black Panther director] Ryan Coogler is writing a part for me in the next Black Panther.” The news understandably came as a shock to comic book fans, given that Marvel hasn’t even announced Black Panther 3 yet, let alone whether Coogler will be returning to helm the project.

Now, it looks like Washington’s comment may have come as a bit of a surprise to Coogler himself. During an appearance on the Variety Awards Circuit podcast, Washington revealed that he called the filmmaker recently to apologize for spilling the beans about his involvement in Black Panther 3. “I called him the other day. I forgot what it was about — no, I called him to apologize,” Washington said. “I said, ‘I’m sorry, man.’ He’s like, ‘No, man, it’s all good.’”

The actor went on to admit that he doesn’t know exactly what Coogler has planned for him in Black Panther 3, only that he’s going to be included in the film. “I don’t know what he’s got cooking for me,” Washington explained. “I love Ryan, because he’s like, he won’t say things. ‘You know what I’m saying? Like, you know what I’m saying?’ Well, at least that’s when he talks to me.”

“I’m like, ‘No, I don’t know what you’re saying, Ryan, say it!’” the actor continued. “That’s how he sounds, right? ‘Yeah, you know what I’m saying?’ And I’m like, ‘Man, are you kidding me? Just write it! Whatever you write, I’ll do it.’”

Fans will likely have to wait a bit to learn more about Coogler and Washington’s Black Panther 3 collaboration. Coogler is currently in the midst of finishing his next film, Sinners, an original horror movie starring Michael B. Jordan and Hailee Steinfeld that’s set to hit theaters in March. Whether or not he chooses Black Panther 3 as his follow-up to that film remains to be seen. Washington, for his part, is next set to appear in Highest 2 Lowest, a remake of Akira Kurosawa’s High and Low that marks a reunion between the actor and director Spike Lee.

  • OpenAI Launches Sora for ChatGPT Pro and Plus Users

OpenAI Launches Sora for ChatGPT Pro and Plus Users

OpenAI is finally launching its Test to video generator, Sora, to ChatGPT Pro and Plus subscribers starting today in select countries. However, the feature is notably absent in the European Union (EU). OpenAi has also warned that attempts to use Sora outside supported regions may lead to account bans or suspensions.

OpenAI unveiled Sora back in February, but didn’t release it for general public. The company has been testing this tool with a select number of visual artists, designers, and filmmakers to start until today to improve the tool.

Sora is OpenAI’s AI video generator capable of creating short video clips between 5 and 22 seconds. Uses can generate video in different resolutions, from 480p (SD) to 1080p (HD). They can also customize the dimensions, length, and speed of the video. There is also an option to upload images and ask Sora to turn them into videos.

Sora will only be available for ChatGPT Pro and Plus Users on credits basis. ChatGPT Plus costs $20.00/month and ChatGPT Pro subscription is priced at $200.00/month.

    How Sora Credits Work

Subscribers to ChatGPT Pro and Plus plans receive monthly credits for video generation:

    • ChatGPT Plus: 1,000 credits
    • ChatGPT Pro: 10,000 credits

Credits reset at the end of each billing cycle and do not roll over. Here’s the breakdown of credit usage:

    Resolution Credit Cost (Per Video)
    480p 20 to 150 credits
    720p 30 to 540 credits
    1080p 100 to 2,000 credits

Pro Plan Perks: Pro subscribers can create up to 500 priority videos per month at 1080p and 20 seconds. Additionally, they have access to unlimited “relaxed” videos without watermarks, although these are processed at a lower priority. By default, Sora videos feature a watermark in the lower-right corner unless generated in the Pro plan’s relaxed mode.

Sora offers exciting opportunities for video creation. However, it remains to be seen how many people find it interesting and get the ChatGPT premium subscription for trying this AI video generator.

  • Barndominium vs. Traditional Home: Which is Right for You

Barndominium vs. Traditional Home: Which is Right for You

If you’re thinking about building or buying a home, you might find yourself stuck between choosing a barndominium or a traditional house. Both options come with their own charm, benefits, and potential drawbacks. So, how do you decide which one is better suited for your lifestyle?

    What Exactly is a Barndominium?

A barndominium, often referred to as a “barndo,” is a hybrid structure that combines the features of a barn with the comforts of a condominium or home. While it might sound like a farmhouse, modern barndominiums can be sleek, open-concept spaces with all the amenities you’d expect from a contemporary home. They’ve become increasingly popular, especially in rural areas where land is plentiful, but they’re also making appearances in suburban spaces as a unique alternative to traditional housing. It’s important to weigh the pros and cons of a barndominium so you can decide whether or not this is right for you.

    Pros of a Barndominium

    ● Durability – Barndominiums are often built with steel frames, making them incredibly durable against weather conditions like strong winds and heavy storms.

    ● Cost-effective – Building a barndominium tends to be more affordable than a traditional home, particularly because of the straightforward construction process.

    ● Customization – With their open floor plans, barndominiums offer a high degree of customization. You can design your living space just the way you want it, with fewer constraints compared to traditional homes.

    ● Energy-efficient – Barndominiums can be easier to insulate and make energy-efficient due to their metal construction, often resulting in lower energy bills.

    ● Speed of construction – These homes can typically be built faster than traditional homes, as their design and structure are simpler to assemble.

    Barndominium

    Cons of a Barndominium

Despite all the advantages, a barndominium might not be for everyone. Here are a few potential downsides:

    ● Zoning regulations – Depending on where you want to build, you may run into zoning laws that restrict the construction of a barndominium in certain areas, particularly suburban or urban spaces.

    ● Resale value – While barndominiums are gaining popularity, they’re still considered unconventional by some buyers. This could affect their resale value, especially in more traditional housing markets.

    ● Aesthetic limitations – The industrial look of a barndominium, with its metal exterior, might not appeal to everyone. While interiors can be customized, the outside appearance might feel too rugged for some.

    ● Limited availability of contractors – Not all contractors are experienced in building barndominiums, which can make the construction process more challenging, especially in areas where they aren’t as common.

    ● Insurance complications – It may be harder to find affordable homeowners insurance for a barndominium, as some insurers might view them as non-traditional structures.

    What About a Traditional Home?

A traditional home refers to the standard residential houses that we’ve come to know—whether it’s a ranch-style, two-story, or a bungalow. They come in all shapes and sizes, usually constructed from wood, brick, or stone, and they are typically found in both suburban and urban areas.

    Pros of a Traditional Home

    ● Familiarity – Traditional homes are widely accepted and understood by real estate agents, contractors, and buyers alike. You’ll rarely run into issues with zoning or local building regulations.

    ● Resale value – Because traditional homes are the standard in most areas, they generally have a broader appeal, making them easier to sell if you decide to move.

    ● Variety of styles – From colonial to modern to craftsman, traditional homes come in a vast range of architectural styles, offering more aesthetic diversity than a barndominium.

    ● More financing options – Securing a mortgage for a traditional home is typically easier, as lenders are more familiar with these types of properties.

    ● Established neighborhoods – Traditional homes are more likely to be part of established neighborhoods, offering community amenities, schools, and services that might be harder to find in rural areas where barndominiums are often built.

    Traditional Home

    Cons of a Traditional Home

    ● Higher costs – Building or buying a traditional home can be more expensive, particularly if you’re looking for a specific design or live in an area with high property values.

    ● Longer construction time – If you’re building from the ground up, traditional homes generally take longer to complete than a barndominium due to more complex designs and materials.

    ● Maintenance – Depending on the age and materials used, traditional homes can require more upkeep and repairs over time, particularly homes built with wood or brick.

    ● Less open floor plan – While many modern traditional homes are designed with more open living spaces, older homes tend to have smaller, segmented rooms.

    ● Environmental impact – Traditional homes often use more materials like wood, which can have a larger environmental footprint compared to the metal used in many barndominiums.

How to Decide Which Home is Right for You

Both barndominiums and traditional homes offer unique benefits, and the right choice depends on your personal preferences, lifestyle, and where you plan to live. Here are a few questions to ask yourself to help with your decision:

    1. Where do you want to live? – If you’re looking for a home in a rural area, a barndominium might fit perfectly. However, if you’re drawn to established neighborhoods or suburban living, a traditional home could be a better option.

    2. What’s your budget? – If cost is a major factor, barndominiums can offer a more affordable path to homeownership. But keep in mind the potential resale challenges down the line.

    3. How important is customization? – Do you want full control over the layout and design of your space? Barndominiums often provide more flexibility for customization. Traditional homes might have more structural limitations, especially if you’re buying an existing property.

    4. Do you plan to sell in the future? – A traditional home might offer more resale value and appeal to a wider audience, whereas a barndominium could be more niche in certain markets.

    5. How quickly do you need to move in? – Barndominiums are generally faster to build, which might make them a more attractive option if you’re on a tighter timeline.

At the end of the day, it’s all about your priorities. Whether you choose a barndominium or a traditional home, both options can provide a beautiful, functional space to call your own. The key is to weigh the pros and cons of each, think about your long-term plans, and pick the home that best suits your needs.

Now, the group is celebrating their 40th anniversary with this special concert event that features the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra as the Violent Femmes’ “back-up band.” The combination of symphonic instruments and the Violent Femmes’ signature tunes sounds very intriguing, so there may be something here for both old and new fans alike.

  • Apple’s plans for a giant foldable iPad sound ridiculously exciting

Apple’s plans for a giant foldable iPad sound ridiculously exciting

Apple is the biggest consumer electronics player that is yet to dabble in foldable devices. It seems the company’s plans for a foldable device could actually be more ambitious than any rival has attempted so far. According to Bloomberg, the company’s next big product category could be, well, a big foldable iPad.

The report mentions “a giant iPad that unfolds into the size of two iPad Pros side-by-side.” The biggest challenge for Apple has been eliminating the crease in the middle of the flexible screen, and it seems the company’s engineers have solved that piece of the puzzle to a large extent.

The prototype device is said to offer “a nearly invisible crease.” So far, the likes of OnePlus, Vivo, and Samsung have launched phones with increasingly “seamless” foldable screens. However, the crease is still very much there, though the situation has improved over the past few years.

“Apple’s approach would be different because it wants the screen to look like a single, uninterrupted piece of glass,” adds the report. The company has reportedly been experimenting with the concept for a while now, and it could hit the shelves in the vicinity of 2028.

Citing an alleged leak, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman mentions that the foldable device could use an 18.8-inch flexible panel. Another interesting bit of information mentioned in the report is that the device could run a version of iPadOS with some macOS DNA thrown into the mix.

Once again, this is not likely going to be a device that embraces the iPadOS-macOS hybrid dreams that many iPad Pro users have harbored for years. There is, however, some hope that by the time Apple’s foldable iPad concept arrives, the underlying OS will have matured to offer more room for productivity and computing than what it currently allows.

So far, the closest implementations of what Apple is reportedly developing are the Asus Zenbook Fold OLED and the HP Spectre Foldable laptops. However, both these machines are pretty expensive, starting at $3,500 in the U.S. market. The situation is not too different with Huawei’s triple-fold phone that arrived earlier this year.

For comparison, the fastest iPads with an M-series silicon start at a thousand dollars. Apple will have to pull off a magic wand trick from its engineering division and supply chain to land at an asking price where the foldable iPad doesn’t become too pricey to approach, even for enthusiasts.

The Vision Pro headset has already proved to be an uber-expensive adventure for Apple, one that failed to revolutionize the augmented reality (AR) and VR segment owing to its $3,500 sticker price. In the meanwhile, work on a foldable iPhone is reportedly still on the table, but it would take a while before Apple puts it on the shelves.
