Pakistan poses a challenge to India.

New Delhi: India has now begun efforts to break Pakistan’s arms industry. New Delhi is now in talks with countries that have been supplying weapons to Pakistan for years. India’s Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has met with the Netherlands’ Defence Minister Ruben Brekelmans in New Delhi. During this meeting, he urged the Netherlands to stop the supply of arms to Pakistan.

Rajnath Singh informed the Netherlands about how Pakistan has become a hub for terrorists in the region and how it continues to send terrorists to India, and how the Netherlands’ arms supply is enhancing Pakistan’s capabilities.

India has detailed to the Netherlands how Pakistan has been spreading terrorism in India for years. While the Netherlands has not yet officially responded to India’s appeal, Rajnath Singh has offered to open India’s doors to compensate the Netherlands for the damage caused by stopping the supply of arms to Pakistan. According to reports, Rajnath Singh has proposed to the Netherlands to enhance defense relations with India.

Pakistan is trying to rapidly enhance its arms industry, which poses a challenge to India. Therefore, during a meeting with the Dutch defense minister, Rajnath Singh specifically stated that Pakistani weapons could threaten India’s security, particularly endangering the security of Kashmir.

According to the Indian Defense Ministry, Rajnath Singh told Brekelmans that “supplying arms to Pakistan poses a risk of conflict spreading in a fragile region.” There is not full information on what kind of weapon technology the Netherlands sells to Pakistan, but India’s aim is to cripple Pakistan’s defense industry.

The Netherlands and Pakistan have a long history of defense deals. Although Pakistan has now begun to purchase over 80 percent of its weapon needs from China, the Netherlands sold four Alkmaar-class minehunters to Pakistan’s navy since the 1990s. Subsequently, companies like the Dutch Damen Shipyard have sold patrol boats and armoured vehicles to Pakistan. The Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) estimates that between 2010 and 2020, Pakistan purchased over 150 million dollars’ worth of Dutch weapons.

Pakistan has a long history of spreading terrorism in India, and the whole world knows this. Therefore, India has now started to bring Pakistan’s defense partners to its side.

India has offered the Netherlands to build strong defense ties. According to a Deloitte report, Rajnath Singh has proposed to benefit from India’s 120-billion-dollar defense market. By linking defense relations with India, it could gain a lot more.

Indian Navy is quite massive compared to Pakistan Navy. While India has 140 warships, Pakistan only has 20. China has supplied frigates and submarines to Pakistan, which has raised concerns for India while patrol boats received from the Netherlands have strengthened Pakistan’s coastal security, so India is attempting to cut the defense ties between Pakistan and the Netherlands.
