The Maratha warrior was born at Purandar Fort to Saibai, Chhatrapati Shivaji’s first wife. His mother died when he was only two years old, and he was raised by his paternal grandmother, Jijabai. He was tortured to death on the orders of Aurangzeb and died on March 11, 1689, at the age of 31.
