“In view of the ongoing developments in Iran, Indian nationals are once again strongly advised to avoid travel to the Islamic Republic of Iran until further notice. MEA’s advisory issued on 5 January 2026 may also be referred to,” the MEA said on 14th January.
As Iran has been facing a wave of protests for over two weeks, the situation is exacerbated by growing tensions between Iran and the United States. Washington has declared open support for the protestors in Iran, who are seeking regime change. US President Donald Trump warned the Iranian regime against opening fire on the protestors. In addition to that, the US has been threatening Iran with military action. Considering the possibility of American military action in Iran, the Indian government has issued a safety advisory to Indian nationals in Iran.
