Afghan media portal Afghanistan Times has published that former Pakistani Prime Minister and PTI chief Imran Khan has been killed inside prison, sparking protests and outrage in his support base. Pakistani authorities have denied the claim, saying that Khan is alive.
On 26 November, Afghanistan Times cited ‘credible sources’ to claim that Imran Khan had been killed inside Adiala Jail. It added that the 72-year-old Khan has finally succumbed to the inhuman torture and his body has been moved outside the prison.

But his family & PTI supporters still aren't allowed to meet him, sparking midnight protests outside Adiala Jail

Pakistani authorities soon denied the claims, citing another similar hoax in May this year regarding Khan’s death. However, there is considerable outrage among PTI supporters because Khan’s sisters, Aleema and Noreen, were denied a visit to meet Khan for the second time.
PTI supporters staged a sit-in protest outside the Adiala Jail on the night of November 25, citing the Pakistan government’s apathy and atrocities. Chanting ‘Azadi’ slogans, they condemned the media blackout and demanded freedom for Khan.
PTI has called the news of his alleged death a ‘sinister psy-op’. Aleema Khan accused the Pakistani government of illegal isolation of Khan, warning of health risks in the ‘death cell’ reserved for terrorists. Imran Khan has been kept in solitary confinement. PTI leaders like Gohar Ali Khan have stated that Imran Khan has been deprived of even basic amenities inside jail and is being treated like a terrorist. His family is not being allowed to meet him, and his health has been deteriorating.
Khan has been locked inside Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail since 2023.
In a letter to Punjab police chief Usman Anwar, Khan’s sisters have accused the local authorities of brutal and orchestrated violence against them over a peaceful protest. They have complained that the lights were switched off, the media was kept out and policemen dragged them away when they were trying to hold a peaceful protest outside the jail premises.
