Mahakumbh 2025: The Mahakumbh mela, one of the largest religious gatherings in the world, which began in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj on January 13, is reportedly the most searched item on Google in Muslim nations, and surprisingly, the country where they keyword is most trending is none other than India’s hostile neighbour, Pakistan.

According to Google Trends, Mahakumbh mela is one of the most searched items on Google so far this year, with a major portion of search traffic coming from Muslim countries like Pakistan, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Mahakumbh 2025 is among the most searched keywords in Pakistan, followed by Bahrain, Bangladesh, Qatar and UAE, as per Google.
Apart from Muslim countries, the keyword is also being widely searched in countries like Singapore, Canada, Nepal, United States, Australia, Britain, Thailand and Ireland, Google Trends revealed.
According to reports, the official website of the Maha Kumbh festival, which was launched by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in October last year, has been garnered visits from 183 countries and 6,206 cities across the world, and recorded an impressive 3.3 million visits as of January 4, 2025, highlighting the Kumbh mela’s universal appeal as a spiritual gathering that transcends geographical and cultural boundaries.

The Mahakumbh or the Kumbh Mela is held once every 12 years at the Triveni Sangam — the confluence of the rivers Ganga, Yamuna and the mythical Saraswati — in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. The Mahakumbh, one of the largest spiritual and religious gatherings in the world, kicked off on January 13 and will continue till February 16 with the state government estimating a footfall of 40 to 45 crore pilgrims during the period.
